MAVIISS is an interactive
design tool from ISIS 21 (Interactive Software
- Integrated Solutions for the 21st century).
This imaging system simulator brings your
system design to life. You can optimize
your design by several methods: horizontal
and vertical MTFs, 2D Fourier transforms,
line traces though the image, and viewing
processed imagery. For maximum flexibility,
MAVIISS operates in a modular form. You
select the modules that simulate your system
(turbulence, optics, motion, detector, reconstruction,
and display). Add both random and fixed
pattern noise. CCD cameras, displays, machine
vision systems, line scanners, and infrared
imaging systems can be analyzed in detail.
The subsystem that limits
your MTF rapidly becomes apparent through
MAVIISS MTF analysis. Similarly, over-specified
subsystems are easily identified. The scene
is spatially sampled due to the discrete
locations of the detectors. MAVIISS indicates
the Nyquist frequency. As an interactive
software product, numerous parameters such
as f-number, aberrations, defocus, detector
size, detector pitch, and display parameters
can be continuous and smoothly changed.
Determine if your system is optics limited
or detector limited. The component MTFs
can be saved to an Excel file for future
off-line analysis.
It is an indispensable teaching tool for
understanding 2D Fourier Optics and imaging
system design. Input any 256x256 bit map.
Save the processed image for future evaluation
or for insertion into reports.
See real time effects of finite fill factors,
microscan, sampling replicas, and reconstruction
filters.
Use the line trace capability to visualize
test target imagery
Real time random noise is updated at 2
Hz (depends upon your computer capabilities).
